In the first weekend of June, Pastor Yonathan Wiryohadi continued the Great Harvest series with a powerful message titled “Kingdom of God.” This sermon reminded the church of our true identity and calling as part of God’s Kingdom and how the church plays a vital role in bringing heaven’s reality to earth.

What Is the Kingdom of God?

After His resurrection, Jesus spent 40 days teaching His disciples about the Kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). Pastor Wiryohadi emphasized Matthew 6:10, where Jesus taught us to pray: “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Why? Because while God’s will is fully accomplished in heaven, it has yet to be fully established on earth — and we are called to be part of making it happen.

The Church and the Kingdom of God

The Kingdom of God is God’s divine government, both in heaven and on earth. Meanwhile, the church is the official representative office of the Kingdom of God on earth. Heaven moves on earth through the church.

The word “Kingdom” comes from two parts:

• King: God desires for us to reign as kings.

• 1 Peter 2:9 — We are a royal priesthood.

• Revelation 5:10 — God plans for us to rule on earth.

There’s a three-step progression to kingship:

1. Child of God (Nephios) — Marked by being born again (Ephesians 4:14)

2. Mature Son (Huios) — Marked by breakthrough and maturity (Galatians 4:1-6)

3. King (Basileus) — Marked by taking dominion over a sphere of influence (Revelation 1:6, 5:10)

Domain means the area or territory where a king rules. Each believer is called to occupy and influence a specific domain on earth.

Old Church vs. New Church Paradigm

Pastor Wiryohadi also contrasted the mindset of the old church and the new church:

• Old Church (1 Samuel 17:24) — Like Saul, runs away from giants (problems, worldly domains, and challenges).

• New Church (1 Samuel 17:48) — Like David, runs toward the giants, confronting and conquering them.

The new church is called to engage and influence every domain — business, government, education, media, and more — for the glory of the King.
